Writing in documents
Writing, formatting as you type, and getting a document out.
Documents are for longer writing. You'll find them all on the Documents page, and you can also put a document on a board as a card.
Formatting as you type
You can format with simple shortcuts. Type one at the start of a line, then a space:
#,##or###for a heading-or*for a bullet1.for a numbered list>for a quote[]for a checklist---for a divider- three backticks for a block of code
These only work at the start of a line. If you type # Heading halfway through a sentence, the # stays as text. That's on purpose.
Inside a line, formatting kicks in as soon as you close it. Wrap words in two asterisks for bold, underscores for italic, two tildes for strikethrough, or backticks for code. For a link, put the text in square brackets and the address straight after it in round brackets.
The slash menu
Type / to open a menu with the same blocks, plus callouts, toggles, tables, images and photos.
Lists and pictures
Press Tab to nest a list item and Shift-Tab to move it back out.
To add a picture, type /image, paste it, or drop it in. Type /photo to search Unsplash for one.
Finding your way around
Long documents show an outline of their headings at the side.
Exporting a document
You can export any document as Word (.docx), PDF, PNG, Markdown or plain text.
One small thing
If you open a new document and leave it empty, it's discarded rather than saved.
